Kurt Bubna, Senior Pastor
Kurt Bubna has been in pastoral ministry since 1976 and now serves as the founding and Senior Pastor of Eastpoint Church (established in January, 2003).

Kurt’s ministry experience includes being a marriage and family pastor, teaching pastor, church planter, and lead pastor for many years.  He has traveled extensively as a conference speaker and short-term missionary in Great Britain, Mexico, Guatemala, and southeast Asia.  He is a regular contributor to Rick Warren’s leadership blog, www.pastors.com.  His first book, Epic Grace-Chronicles of a Recovering Idiot (Tyndale) is scheduled for release in the fall of 2013.

Kurt married his high school sweetheart (Laura) in 1975 and they have four children and five grandchildren.  His hobbies include: reading, long walks with his wife, and long rides on his motorcycle (the best mid-life crisis toy in the world).

Brian Ahlquist, Marriage & Family Pastor
Brian was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1968.  He and his wife, Heather, have been married since 1996 and have two wonderful boys, Jonas and Grady.  Brian completed his undergraduate degree from Bethel University, a BS in Nursing, as well as a Masters in Professional Counseling through Liberty University.  Serving as a pastor since 1999, Brian has overseen a variety of ministries and loves serving with the Eastpoint team.  When not working he enjoys spending time with family, playing games, bird hunting, working out, reading, and being with friends.

Jeff Kennedy, Discipleship Pastor
Jeff has been married to his wife Kerri since 1994 and they have 4 happy and funny children.  Pastor Jeff earned a BA in Biblical Literature with a minor in New Testament Greek from Northwest University in Seattle, a Master of Religion and a Master of Religious Education from Liberty Theological Seminary and Graduate School.  Jeff is currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, CA.  In addition to serving as a Pastor of Discipleship at Eastpoint Church, Jeff has also served as a youth pastor at Harvest Heights Church in Kennewick, Washington; Youth and Worship Pastor at Heartland Church in Apple Valley, MN; Worship Pastor at Life Center North Church in Spokane, WA; and as Senior Pastor of New Hope Church in Post Falls, ID.  When he is not teaching at church he is playing with his kids, enjoying time with his family.

Matt King, Community Pastor
Matt was born in 1970, in Southern California, but he was raised in North Idaho, where fishing, hunting, and a variety of other adrenaline highs are plentiful.  He’s been married to his wife, Nona, since November 7, 1992, and is blessed with the two coolest kids ever.  Matt has been a successful senior pastor, church planter, and is serving at Eastpoint overseeing our AdventureLand team and the Community Outreach ministry.

Nate Harris, Assistant Pastor
Nathan Harris has been married to his beautiful wife, Jessica, since January of 2006.  He became a dad when his son was born in July of 2010.  He has been in ministry since 1995, working as a youth leader, being part of a church planting team, and a pastor.  He went to and graduated from Bible college in Eugene, OR at Eugene Bible College (now New Hope College), where he earned a B.A. in Pastoral Studies.  Nathan’s primary role at Eastpoint is in the Discipleship Ministry where he oversees Life Groups and Life Classes.  Nathan enjoys fishing, camping, reading, sports (especially football and baseball) and spending time with family and friends.

Tom Mahugh, Pastor of Care
Tom is married to his college sweetheart, has two daughters, two sons-in-law, and four amazing grandchildren.  He has degrees from both Northwest Christian University and the University of Oregon.  His work experience includes seven years teaching and administration in public schools, eight years teaching and administration in private Christian schools, fifteen years owning and operating an insurance and investment business, and ten years as Pacific Northwest Regional Representative for Mood Bible Institute, Chicago.  He was ordained to the ministry in 1981, and has served in a variety of capacities including Administrator of New Covenant Fellowship in Montana, campaign manager for a U.S. Senate candidate in Montana, State Director for the Freedom Council in Montana, and board member of several non-profit organizations in Montana and Washington.

Bryce Brewer, Generation Next Pastor
Bryce Brewer was born and raised in Spokane Valley.  He has been married to his beautiful wife for 13 years and has been blessed with two wonderful children; a 12 year old son and a 4 year old daughter.  He has been in ministry for nearly 13 years and served in several churches in Washington.  He was educated in Business Marketing and Youth Ministry at George Fox University where he met his wife.  Bryce loves video games and spends his free time playing sports, reading leadership books, and is an avid Seahawks fan.

James Gerber, Worship Pastor
James Gerber was born and raised in Spokane.  He and his amazing wife Ashley have been married since 2005 and have three beautiful daughters.  James became a Christian and got his start in ministry at Life Center church (Spokane) where he served in various youth and worship ministries and was on staff as the College Associate Pastor.  He later served at Evergreen Christian Center in Hillsboro, Oregon, as their Worship Arts Pastor.  James loves to see people deepen their relationship with Jesus and reach their potential as leaders.  He also loves music!  In his spare times he loves going to concerts, trying out new guitar gear, and going out to dinner and movies with his wife.  You are most likely to see James and Ashley at Tomato Street, their favorite restaurant!

Nathan Reinhart, Volunteer Pastor
Nathan was born in 1978 and raised in Spokane.  He is married to the woman of his dreams, Sarah Reinhart, and is super blessed with two amazing, fantastic daughters.  Nathan became involved in preaching and leadership ministry in 1995 and was a bi-vocational staff pastor at a local community church from 1999 to 2010, preaching weekly and at various times leading youth group, worship, and community outreach.  Nathan is currently serving on Eastpoint’s Discipleship team and working toward his Bachelor of Ministry degree.  He enjoys listening to and playing rowdy music as well as hiking, basketball, Madden, and spending time with his beautiful wife and kids.

Teresa Ahrendt, Creative Arts Director
Since the age of five Teresa has been involved in drama or creative arts in various avenues.  Along with serving on several church staffs as Drama/Creative Director, she has spent time traveling the U.S. and Canada using her gifts to spread the love of Jesus.  Her passion for the arts, and the desire to reach into hearts and open doors for God to do His work, has been a part of her for her entire life.  Teresa has been with Eastpoint since the beginning.  But as passionate as she is for Eastpoint’s ministry, it comes second to her husband and children.  When not at church she is caring for and supporting her husband of nearly 20 years, who also assists her in the work she does at Eastpoint.  She also has three amazing children who are miracles from God in her life which is a story she loves to share if you ever desire to ask her.

Tye Compogno, Technical Director
Tye is a Spokane native, born and raised.  He married his wife Kaycee in 2008 and they have a beautiful daughter together who has her daddy’s heart.  Tye came on staff in 2005 and oversees all of the IT, sound, video and lights for Eastpoint.  When Tye isn’t working he enjoys hanging out with his daughter, watching movies, and playing video games.  He also loves bacon.

Heather Evans, Director of Life Groups and Women's Ministry
Heather has been married to her man Alan since 1998.  They have two amazing children who are the joy of her life and help her grow in many ways!  Alan and Heather have recently become foster parents to an amazing little girl and are enjoying having her be a part of their family.  Heather enjoys being in the great outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, traveling, bonfires, and having new adventures.  Heather works in the Discipleship Ministry and loves being a part of a dynamic, growing ministry that helps others learn and grow in their faith.  Heather has a deep love for learning and  is currently pursuing her Masters in Theology through Antioch School.

Suzanne Guthrie, Business Manager
Suzanne has lived in the Spokane area all of her life and loves it here!  She graduated with a degree in Marketing and Finance from Gonzaga University and went to work in the corporate world for many years.  In 2005, she left a large, local manufacturing firm to open up a coffee roasting company/cafe in Coeur d’Alene, Id.  After she sold her ownership she spent a great deal of time volunteering in law enforcement then came to work at Eastpoint Church as the Business Manager and truly loves her job!  Suzanne has a lot of activities she enjoys, too numerous to mention here, but her heart is where the water is!  Being out on a boat on the water is one of her favorite places to be (preferably when it’s sunny and warm!).

Jennifer Skaggs, Receptionist

Jennifer was born and raised in Texas.  She comes from a family of three older brothers and has seven nieces and nephews.  She met her husband Eric in 2009 and they were married in March 2012.  Jennifer and Eric came to Spokane in 2012 for Eric’s job with Burlington Northern Santa Fe.  Jennifer became the receptionist at Eastpoint in October 2012 and has enjoyed every minute of it!

Sarah Reinhart, Executive Assistant
Sarah was born in Arizona…but was raised in Guam, Kansas, Missouri and Oregon.  She has lived in Spokane since 1993 and has been married to her high school sweetheart since 1998. She enjoys painting, hiking, traveling, and a good book.  Sarah works as an assistant to Matt King and also provides administrative support for many of our ministry teams at Eastpoint. She loves using her smile, energetic creativity, and quirky personality to find unique ways to reach out to our local community.  

Jessica Harris, Administrative Assistant
Jessica is the wife of Nathan Harris, one of the Assistant Pastors here at Eastpoint.  She loves supporting Nate in his ministry.  She also works for Eastpoint part-time as an administrative assistant, mostly “behind the scenes” designing the weekly bulletin and other various tasks.  Jessica loves using her creative and organizational skills to serve in ministry.  She also loves being a stay-at-home mom.
